childbirth education

background

With a background in special education, I combine my love for teaching with my belief that every expectant person or family has the right to evidence-based information and support as tools towards a safe, empowering, and satisfying birth experience.

I currently teach at Albany Medical Center, Sage-Femme Midwifery, Community Maternity Services, the Albany Family Life Center, and privately.

class content

Topics in classes are tailored to the needs of the participants, but may include: pregnancy, the physiological process of childbirth, comfort measures, medical interventions & informed decision-making, the postpartum period, and life with a newborn.

Information is presented in a variety of modalities, all centered on an evidence-based, positive perspective that celebrates physiologic birth while educating about the choices and decisions with which families are faced during pregnancy, childbirth, and the newborn period.

Please contact me to inquire about current class schedule or for information about private classes.

Sarah was very informative and welcoming...it was easy to listen and we looked forward to class each week! I highly recommend first time parents attend her class.
